Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 21, 2026
We want History Cake to be usable by everyone. This statement explains what we aim for, where we know we fall short, and how to reach us.
Our target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA on the marketing site, the consumer web experience, and — as practically as possible — the mobile app. We also respect platform accessibility conventions on iOS (VoiceOver, Dynamic Type) and Android (TalkBack, font scaling).
Measures we take
- Semantic HTML, labelled form fields, and ARIA where useful.
- Visible focus states and keyboard navigation on all interactive elements.
- Colour contrast that meets or exceeds AA for body text and UI.
- Captions, labels, and descriptive alt text on imagery. (We are adding transcripts for story audio as a rolling project.)
- Respect for the browser's
prefers-reduced-motionpreference.
Known gaps
- Full written transcripts are not yet available for every story.
- The CMS (for creators) has known gaps in keyboard navigation in some drag-and-drop reorder surfaces.
We're working on both. If you find a barrier not listed here, please tell us.
