History Cake respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects creators on the platform to do the same. If you believe content on History Cake infringes your copyright, follow the process below.
Overview
We respond to notices that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) and equivalent mechanisms in other jurisdictions.
Submit a takedown notice
Your notice must include all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed (or a representative list if multiple works).
- Identification of the material to be removed, with enough detail for us to locate it (URL, collection name, story name).
- Your contact information (name, address, email, phone).
- A statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
Send notices to our designated agent below. Knowingly materially-misrepresenting a claim may subject you to liability.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed in response to a notice and you believe that was a mistake, you may submit a counter-notice containing:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if outside the US, any judicial district in which History Cake may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the complainant.
Repeat infringers
We terminate the accounts of creators who are the subject of repeated and valid infringement notices, in appropriate circumstances.
